Making Relationships Work
A workshop for couples who want to enhance their communications skills, their capacity for intimacy* and to truly thrive in relationship. It is held either as a two day non-residential workshop working 9-5.30 each day or as a three day couples retreat, with space to relax and care for yourself.
The teaching will include:
• understanding the unconscious/historic element of our relationships
• understanding the fundamental personality types
• meeting our needs and the needs of others
• skilful communication - and understanding how we comfort/punish ourselves and others
• letting go of past grievances
• visioning a positive future
• trusting our intuition
*for the purposes of our work, we define intimacy as the ability to share our experience of life with each other without agenda*.
MORE ABOUT MAKING RELATIONSHIPS WORK
Most of us face relationship struggles at some point and often feel ill-equipped to deal with them. Perhaps you know that “Relationship Groundhog Day” feeling? Repeating the same cycles over and again. Our template for relationships is based on the example provided by our parents. What we witnessed them do, or not do, in their own relationship with each other and others, influences all our relationship choices throughout our life. The big question is how to free ourselves from the past and learn to do things differently? How to really make our relationships work. Matthew Pruen has built on a decade of working with couples in one to one and group settings to put together an in depth workshop to teach you tools and techniques to Make Your Relationships Work. They draw on a wide range of wisdom traditions including the teachings of psychotherapist David Richo as well as Harville Hendrix’s Imago Relationship Therapy.
This weekend is designed for anyone wanting to develop their ability to enjoy life in relationship – whether with family, friends and colleagues or in intimate life. The intention is to support attendants in finding real breakthrough and success in relationships of all kinds.
Everyone is welcome, the only requirement is you are in a relationship which could use a little support.
Couples seeking to part well will also gain from the experience. After all, the skills required to find respectful closure are the very same needed to create a healthy future together – communication, understanding and trust.
The residential workshop takes place amid sunflower fields at the highly acclaimed French Retreat between Bordeaux and Cognac in the stunning south Charente countryside. This is a fully residential experience, with acclaimed food and beautiful, en-suite accommodation for up to 18 guests.
No previous experience is required, just open-hearted curiosity and the willingness to find meaningful breakthrough in any areas which have become stuck.
